Diez fichas de nivel difícil (B1-B2). Aquí el past simple ya no se practica solo: se practica contra los demás pasados, que es donde se decide una nota de B2.
Entran el past continuous para la acción interrumpida, el past perfect para lo anterior a otro pasado, used to contra would, y las estructuras narrativas del B2 First.
Ficha 1 · Simple o continuo
Elige el tiempo correcto.

Ficha 2 · Past perfect
Completa con past simple o past perfect.

- I ___ (never see) so many people before that day.had never seen — experiencia anterior a un momento pasado.
- After he ___ (finish) his homework, he went out.had finished — con after se marca lo anterior.
- By 2010 they ___ (move) three times.had moved — by + fecha pasada pide past perfect.
- When I got home, someone ___ (eat) my dinner.had eaten — pasó antes de llegar.
Ficha 3 · Used to o would
Elige la opción correcta. Would solo vale para acciones repetidas, no para estados.
- «De pequeño tenía un perro.»I used to have a dog.I would have a dog.used to have — have es estado, y would no vale para estados.
- «Todos los veranos íbamos a la playa.»Every summer we would go to the beach.Every summer we used to going to the beach.would go — acción repetida, así que sí vale would.
- «Vivíamos en Bilbao.»We would live in Bilbao.We used to live in Bilbao.used to live — live es estado.
- «Mi abuelo nos contaba cuentos.»My grandfather would tell us stories.My grandfather was telling us stories.would tell — costumbre repetida en el pasado.

Completa el texto con el tiempo correcto.

Completa la segunda frase para que signifique lo mismo.

Pasa la frase a estilo indirecto.
- «I am tired», she said. → She said she ___ tired.was — el presente retrocede a pasado.
- «I saw him», he said. → He said he ___ seen him.had seen — el pasado retrocede a past perfect.
- «We will come», they said. → They said they ___ come.would come.
- «I can swim», she said. → She said she ___ swim.could.
- «Do you like it?», he asked. → He asked if I ___ it.liked — y sin auxiliar: en estilo indirecto la pregunta pierde la inversión.

Ficha 9 · Registro escrito
Elige la opción más adecuada para un texto narrativo formal.
- Empezar un relato:One evening in November, the letter arrived.So one day this letter came.One evening in November… — el registro narrativo usa complementos de tiempo al principio.
- Marcar un cambio de escena:Meanwhile, on the other side of the city…And then in the other place…Meanwhile — conector de simultaneidad, muy valorado en el writing de B2.
- Introducir una sorpresa:Suddenly, the lights went out.Then the lights go out fast.Suddenly, the lights went out.
- Explicar una causa anterior:She had not eaten all day, so she felt weak.She did not eat all day, so she feels weak.had not eaten / felt — la causa anterior en past perfect.
- Cerrar el relato:It was only later that she understood what had happened.Later she understand what happens.It was only later that… — estructura enfática de nivel alto.
- Describir el ambiente:The streets were empty and it was getting dark.The streets are empty and it gets dark.were / was getting — descripción de fondo en pasado.

La última.
- «Llevaba dos horas esperando cuando llegó.»I had been waiting for two hours when he arrived.I waited two hours when he arrived.had been waiting — past perfect continuo para una duración anterior a otro pasado.

Los tres puntos que más se fallan en un B2 y que están aquí: el past perfect para lo anterior (fichas 2 y 8), would solo para acciones repetidas, nunca para estados (ficha 3) y el estilo indirecto (ficha 6). Si has fallado en esas, repítelas antes de seguir.
