Parte 1 · Grammar (3 puntos)

  1. 1. I ___ (never / be) to London.have never been.
  2. 2. Have you finished your homework ___ ?yet.
  3. 3. Look at those clouds! It ___ (rain).is going to rain.
  4. 4. If it ___ (be) sunny tomorrow, we will go to the beach.is. If it will be es el error más repetido de este trimestre.
  5. 5. Do not worry, I ___ (help) you with that.will help (también vale ’ll help).
  6. 6. She has ___ finished the book, she read the last page this morning.just. Just es acabar de hacer algo hace nada, y va entre has y el participio.

Parte 2 · Vocabulary (2 puntos)

Completa con la palabra que falta. Seis huecos.

  1. 7. We need to ___ our seats before the plane is full.book.
  2. 8. My phone is dead, I forgot to ___ it last night.charge. Charge a phone es cargarlo. Load sería cargar un camión.
  3. 9. The flight was ___ by two hours because of the fog.delayed.
  4. 10. Can you ___ the wifi password, please? I cannot connect.share.
  5. 11. I always take my ___ luggage on the plane, never a big suitcase.hand. Hand luggage es el equipaje de mano. En Estados Unidos dicen carry-on.
  6. 12. Turn it off and on again, that usually ___ the problem.solves. Solve a problem es la colocación. Resolve se usa para conflictos entre personas.

Parte 3 · Reading (2,5 puntos)

The town that switched off the wifi

The library in Ardal has free wifi, like every library. Two years ago the staff decided to turn it off between four and six in the afternoon, every day.

The idea came from the students themselves. A group of fifteen-year-olds told the librarian that they came to the library to study, sat down, and then spent an hour on their phones. They asked her to remove the temptation.

It has worked better than anybody expected. The library is fuller at five in the afternoon than at any other time, and the staff say the noise level has gone down, not up. Three other libraries in the area are going to try the same thing in September.

Not everybody is happy. People who use the library to look for work have complained, and they have a point. From next month, one room will keep the wifi on all day, for exactly that reason.

  2. 14. Why did the students want it off?Because they wasted an hour on their phonesBecause it was too noisyBecause it was too slowBecause it cost moneyPorque perdían una hora con el móvil.
  3. 15. What happened to the number of people in the library? It stayed the sameIt went up at five in the afternoonOnly adults cameIt went downSubió a las cinco de la tarde. Fuller at five than at any other time. Cuidado: no dice que subiera a todas horas.

Parte 4 · Writing (2,5 puntos)

Write about the rule you would change in your school, and why. Escribe entre 70 y 100 palabras. Esta parte la corrige el profesor.

Tienes que decir:

  • what the rule is now
  • why you think it does not work
  • what you would change
  • what will happen if the school changes it
