Diez fichas de nivel difícil (B1-B2). Aquí ya no se trata de poner la -s: se trata de los usos que separan a alguien que «sabe el present simple» de alguien que lo usa como un nativo.

Entran los verbos de estado que sí admiten continuo con otro significado, el present simple con valor de futuro, las condicionales de tipo cero, la narración en presente y la inversión. Es el material que se pregunta en un B2 First.

Ficha 1 · Verbos que cambian de significado

Elige la opción que encaja con el significado indicado.

  1. «Pienso que tienes razón» (opinión)I am thinking you are right.I think you are right.I think — cuando think es opinión, va en simple. En continuo significa «estar dándole vueltas».

Completa. Los dos verbos van en present simple.

Elige la opción correcta.

  1. Resumiendo una película: «El protagonista descubre que…»The main character discovers that…The main character discovered that…discovers — los resúmenes de argumento se cuentan en presente. Es obligatorio en el writing de reviews.
  2. Titular de periódico: «Un ministro dimite»Minister resignsMinister resignedMinister resigns — los titulares usan presente aunque el hecho sea pasado.
  3. Contando un chiste: «Entra un hombre en un bar y dice…»A man walks into a bar and says…A man walked into a bar and said…walks / says — el presente narrativo hace el relato más vivo.
  4. Instrucciones de una receta:You add the eggs and mix well.You added the eggs and mixed well.add / mix — instrucciones en presente simple.
  5. Comentando un partido en directo:Ramos passes to Torres, who shoots.Ramos passed to Torres, who shot.passes / shoots — la retransmisión deportiva usa presente simple, no continuo.
  6. «En el capítulo tres, el autor sostiene que…»the author argues that…the author argued that…argues — al comentar un texto se usa presente, aunque el libro sea antiguo.

Completa con la palabra que falta.

Elige la versión más adecuada para un texto escrito formal.
