Mina first job

Mina is sixteen and she lives in a village with her mother and her two brothers. Every Saturday she works in the village cafe from ten until three. She washes cups, takes orders and carries plates. She likes the job, but her feet hurt at the end of the day.

The cafe belongs to Mr Adeyemi. He is seventy years old and he makes all the cakes himself, very early in the morning. Mina wants to learn, but he says she is too young to use the big oven.

With the money from her first month she bought a bicycle. Now she gets to the cafe in eight minutes. Before that, she walked for half an hour.

Next summer Mina wants to work every day, not only on Saturdays. Her mother says yes, but only if she passes all her exams in June.
